History of the Academy of Polygraph Science
Dr. Richard Poe, Director of the Academy of Polygraph Science, began his polygraph career as a Deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office He was sent for polygraph training in 1981 and became the department’s polygraphist doing pre-employment and criminal testing. In 1985 he established the National Loss Prevention Institute in Largo, Fl. training law enforcement and private students. This institute prevailed until 1988 when the EPPA law was enacted which put the squelch on many polygraph schools.
In 1996 he went to work for Axciton Polygraph manufacturers and traveled throughout the world teaching. He taught in many countries such as Russia, India, Malaysia, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela and Columbia. In 2001 he resigned from Axciton and opened the Largo office of the Academy of Polygraph Science.
This new academy has taught students from many countries including the United States of America, Canada, Venezuela, Columbia, Slovakia, Holland, Ukraine, and Malaysia, including private, law enforcement, and military. The academy has held several satellite campuses in the USA in Arkansas, Illinois, Idaho and throughout Florida, as well as South America in Caracas and Bogota. This indeed keeps the teaching staff very busy.
All campuses of the Academy of Polygraph Science teach basic examiner courses as well as advanced polygraph such as PCSOT and specialized courses.
The current instructors teach regularly at both Largo and satellite campuses. Besides Dr. Poe there are Nancy Poe, B.S., Dr. Jared Wayland, Wade Moss, B.A., Pam DiBernardo, M.S., and Atty. David Lichter, J.D. These instructor’s credentials are available on request for review.
